I have a love of playgrounds, but I like a good, not too muddy one ideally... My favourite, and I might regret spilling the beans on this, is Weald Playground, which is really great - loads of things to play on and never too busy, plus our dog can have a run in the field too. But Tonbridge playground is great too, behind the High Street. My two love the zip wire especially, and although it's like a swamp at the moment if you dress knowing this then it's bearable... By the way, Hildenborough Playground is soon to be redesigned which is brilliant news.
2. Haysden Country Park
It's lovely here, ducks to feed, (another) playground for the kids, an easy family walk around the lake... I believe you have to pay for the car park, but everything is pretty easily accessible even with a buggy or pram and it's nice to get back to nature. Take wellies...
Local playgroups are fantastic. I used to go to Sunbeams in Hildenborough Church Hall every Monday when my two were little, and for the price of a chocolate bar or two my girls could play with playdough (which I meanly very rarely let them do at home as it goes EVERYWHERE), do some crafts, take over the play kitchen there and eat a few biscuits. Joy. And I got to have a hot cup of tea, even better. I think it used to cost £1.50 per family (not per child) which was superb. Definitely worth supporting. Find your local playgroup and let us know about it to add it to our weekly activities board. Hildenborough Church Hall, Mondays Term Time, 2-4pm.
4. South Tonbridge Children's Centre
I can't speak from personal experience here but looking at the list of *free* activities, the Children's Centre in South Tonbridge looks pretty great. There are sessions where you can stay and play, a 9 week activity course (learning baby massage, sign language and other things...) and something called Jumping Beans which is an interactive session with balls, parachutes etc... Take a look, the link is here
5. Craft Session at the Hildenborough Library
This is a free session each week where you can take your little ones to develop their creativity without turning your own house into a bomb site. Fantastic! I love the Library anyway, but this looks really great.
2-3pm Thursdays at Hildenborough Library, Pre School Craft
Have a great week!
