Hi Clare, tell us a bit about yourself & Little Notes
Little Notes music classes were launched in West Sussex back in 2005 by husband and wife team, Mark & Lou Bradbury, and since then, thousands of children across the UK have fallen in love with music at Little Notes weekly sessions.
I am a professional horn player, with two teenage children (time flies!) and have been working as a freelance musician all over London and the UK for the past 25 years. I have recently taken on the franchise of Little Notes classes in this area, as I truly believe in the positive impact that experiencing live music has on children, even tiny babies!
The main reason that Little Notes is different to most other music classes, is that we use as much live music in each session as possible - I play the french horn, piano and ukulele - and it is wonderful to see the reaction from the children when they hear real music being created all around them.
The Tonbridge & Hildenborough Mums website is aimed at mums, dads and carers in and around Tonbridge & Hildenborough. How do you think Little Notes would appeal to them?
Music, and especially singing at a young age, helps develop self-expression and language skills, and has been proven to enhance many areas of brain development. Our Little Notes classes help to build confidence and communication, as well as a variety of social skills - listening, sharing and even tidying away!
We have a particular topic which we develop for 3-4 weeks at a time, using a good balance between familiar tunes and songs, and fresh, new material - we don’t just sing the same old nursery rhymes each week!
And we always explore a special piece of music in each session, either classical, jazz, rock or even more unusual music from all around the world, before finishing with a relaxing lullaby, played on a real instrument, to calm everything down at the end.
Our classes are based on age-led activities, so even newborn babies can benefit from hearing gentle music, played on real instruments, with lots of face-to-face moments and songs to enjoy together.
Tell us a bit about what you and Little Notes bring to the local community
There are other music groups around for pre-school children but, for all the reasons stated above, Little Notes really is unique!
I am very happy to take the Little Notes music experience into nursery schools and toddler groups, by giving one-off free taster sessions.
Where can we find you?

Lastly, tell us an interesting fact about yourself!
A few highlights of my musical career include performing at Buckingham
Palace for the Queen’s Golden Jubilee; performing at the Last Night of the
Proms in the Albert Hall; and playing the opening fanfare with the rock band, Emerson Lake and Palmer, for the Led Zeppelin concert in the O2 Arena! Aside from music, I love the outdoors - walking my dog, watching wildlife, a bit of running, and also climbing, and have even made it to the summit of Mont Blanc!
