Get in touch James Sedge & Julie Parker
Hi James, tell us a bit about yourself & MusicStation
Julie Parker and I set up MusicStation just over 2 years ago. We both came from running a very successful Popular Music degree course for Kent University and Diploma courses at a local College. Julie comes from an academic teaching background and specialises in piano; my background is playing and teaching drums professionally in bands and shows. After 14 years of working together we decided to go it alone and create a new, modern music school for the people of West Kent. MusicStation started in September 2013. We specialise in teaching popular music for piano, guitar, bass, drums, woodwind, ukulele, music theory and technology and singing, we also have a Soul Choir that is aimed at parents and adults. Our team of 11 tutors teach 400 students a week and have provided over 12000 lessons so far…!
The Tonbridge & Hildenborough Mums website is aimed at families in and around Tonbridge & Hildenborough. How do you think MusicStation would appeal to them?
MusicStation has a very friendly and happy atmosphere, and many family members attend lessons at the same time on different instruments. They enjoy the convenience of being able to learn many instruments in the same place. Parents can relax in our comfortable waiting room with a free cup of tea or coffee and watch the lessons on a large screen because we have cameras in all the rooms. at the passionate about providing quality musical instrument teaching for people of all ages, using the most up to date methods and equipment.
Our youngest students are 4 years old, but most start at around 6, it really depends on each individual child. Evidence shows that learning an instrument (or singing) has many benefits for children. It helps to develop concentration, problem solving, Coordination, confidence building and it is fun!
